Loop Hero ##HOT## Free

Original Story: This year had us stuck in many video game time loops, but one of my absolute favourites was Loop Hero. I never thought an autobattler RPG would hook me the way it did, but I spent hours upon hours helping a little knight circle a seemingly endless void, and had a wonderful time doing it. If you didn't have a chance to play it earlier this year, it's now free on the Epic Game Store until tomorrow. I heartily encourage you to pick this one up, it's one of our favourite games of 2021.

Loop Hero Free

Loop Hero is an autobattling, card-based roguelike with the aesthetic of an 80s PC RPG. Your goal is to help a little character beat a series of bosses who've seemingly turned the world into a giant void, and you do that by laying out pieces of landscape, fighting monsters, and collecting loot as you round and round a loop.

It's incredibly moreish, the sort of game that had me saying, 'Ah, go on, just one more loop,' over and over. Steve Hogarty enjoyed it too in his Loop Hero review, praising its strategic freedom and ability to keep you on your toes.

Or you could personally see what the fuss is about and head over to the Epic Games Store now to claim it for free. You have until 4pm GMT tomorrow to add it to your library. Epic are giving away a free game every day for 15 days over the holiday period, and 4pm every day is when the new one becomes available.

The Lich has thrown the world into a timeless loop and plunged its inhabitants into never ending chaos. Wield an expanding deck of mystical cards to place enemies, buildings, and terrain along each unique expedition loop for the brave hero. Recover and equip powerful loot for each class of hero for their battles and expand the survivors' camp to reinforce each adventure through the loop. Unlock new classes, new cards, and devious guardians on your quest to shatter the endless cycle of despair.

Infinite Adventure: Select from unlockable character classes and deck cards before setting out on each expedition along a randomly generated loop path. No expedition is ever the same as the ones before it.

Plan Your Struggle: Strategically place building, terrain, and enemy cards along each loop to create your own dangerous path. Find balance between the cards to increase your chances of survival while recovering valuable loot and resources for your camp.

Loop Hero, if you missed it the first time around, is a mixture of auto-battler, management sim, deckbuilding, and idle game concepts. Your hero journeys around a circular track, and you place objects in their path, with different terrain spawning new boons or challenging monsters to fight. Level them up, and eventually fight the boss of the chapter, either emerging victorious or falling back to camp, to build more long-term upgrades and ready up for another trek.

This time, we're looking at the unexpected idle rpg Loop Hero that has shot up toward the top of the sales charts since it launched just a few days ago. It's a game where you build your own perilous quest around a hero as they trek along a circular path. Each run starts with a few slimes for your hero to auto-attack, but killing them rewards you with gear and environmental features you can start placing to heighten the potential risk and reward of each new lap. Your ultimate goal is to collect as much loot as possible in these runs so you can try to reconstruct a world you don't quite remember.

The Epic Games Store mystery game promotion is well underway now, meaning several gamers have gotten four free games so far. This includes the action-adventure title Shenmue 3, the action roguelike platformer Neon Abyss, the action RPG third-person shooter Remnant: From The Ashes (which has often been referred to as "Dark Souls with Guns"), and the horror adventure game The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

FREE GOG PC GAMES PRESENTSLoop Hero (c) Four Quarters / Devolver DigitalThe lich imprisoned the world in a timeless loop, and endless chaos engulfed all its inhabitants. At your disposal is a growing deck of mysterious cards, with the help of which you have to place enemies, buildings and landscape elements on the path of the brave hero on each of his unique journeys. Get powerful trophies for heroes of all classes and equip them before the battle. Expand your survivor camp to grow in strength with each adventure in the loop. Unlock new classes, cards, bonuses and treacherous guards as you fight to break the vicious circle of suffering.

Also keep in mind that integer-based stats don't scale with you, as enemies level up with each loop. Focusing on building a bunch of Magic Damage (which surpasses defense) might help in the early game, but as you encounter higher-level enemies a handful of free damage will feel like a bad investment of your cards. Meanwhile, 33% evasion stays pretty useful loop after loop. The Necromancer is a particularly good example of why you should scrutinize gear before swapping it in. Some lower-level rings will grant "+1 Skeleton," which can be a massive difference-maker in extended fights, and be preferable over many items three or four levels higher.

Swapping items too freely also has a minor disadvantage: when you hit max item capacity in your inventory and earn a new item, the oldest item becomes a piece of scrap metal, one of the more valuable basic resources for building camp structures.

Inevitably, this means you'll churn through cards. That's OK: once your hand fills the bottom row of the screen, discarded cards actually become a useful resource you can use at camp. I actually avoid playing lower-tier cards like Rocks and Forest unless I'm forced to. It's OK to let your hero make a few loops without playing any cards. If you want to take this a step further, use Oblivion cards to undo less-effective card placements, which will dial the boss progress bar back a little.

It's definitely possible to get unlucky with what you draw here. For the Rogue, I insta-grab the ability that grants a 75% to spawn a pet, which can tank a little damage and deal it back. And for the Necromancer, I always take the +1 Max Skeletons ability, which gives me a bit more freedom when selecting which rings and other gear are best. There's an achievement for spawning 10 skeletons, which remains my personal dream. 041b061a72
